AQABA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL CALENDAR
ACADEMIC YEAR 2009/10
Aqaba International School is registered as a Private Educational Establishment within the Jordanian Education system, and as such is obligated to follow the calendar set by the Ministry of Education. There are two terms of roughly equal length, divided by a three week winter break. Other holiday breaks (Eid, Easter and public holiday weekends) fall during term times, which in some cases form natural ‘half-term breaks.
Term 1
12th August 2010 – 22nd December 2010
• Registration and Text Book collection 16-18 August.
• Ramadan starts 11th August (according to the sightings of the moon).
• Examination re-sits 22-24th August.
• Parent Information Meeting 25h August.
• Welcome party 26h August in school sports hall.
• Full lessons begin 29th August.
• Eid Al Fitr Break 8th – 11th September.
• Parent Teacher Interviews 10th October.
• International Day 25th November.
• Eid Al Adha Break 12th - 20th November.
• Term One Exams 10th – 16th December.
Term 2
16th January – 18th June 2011
• Book Week 7th – 11th November.
• Prophets birthday 15th February.
• Fun Walk 3rd March.
• Activity Week 28th February – 2nd March.
• Parent Teacher Interviews 17th March.
• Palm Sunday and Job Shadow Day 17th April
• Sports Day 27th March.
• Easter Break and Project Week 24-28th April.
• Labour Day Weekend 29th April – 1st May.
• Independence Day 25th May.
• Term Two Exams 5th June – 9th June.
• Prize Giving 15th June.
