AN ISLAND HOME- using a story book to develop children's understanding of geographical features, people, places, environment. GOING TO THE SEASIDE- how places have evolved over time-historically and geographically. GLOBAL EYE- a study of eye problems in less economically developed countries, recycling. A CONTRASTING LOCALITY OVERSEAS- comparison of own locality to another with regards to housing, school, food etc. |

INVESTIGATING OUR LOCAL AREA- land usage, jobs, services, changes. WEATHER AROUND THE WORLD- link between weather and tourism around the world, similarities and differences compared to where we live. WHAT'S IN THE NEWS?- local, national, international news and weather reports. HOW CAN WE IMPROVE THE AREA WE SEE FROM OUR WINDOW?- features, quality of environment, the future. |

IMPROVING THE ENVIRONMENT- improvement of environment and environmental issues. VILLAGE SETTLERS- how settlements develop over time, evidence of such, using maps, designing own village. HOW AND WHERE DO WE SPEND OUR TIME?- leisure, recreation, working time within the settlement theme, surveys. A VILLAGE IN ______- children study a less economically developed country, homes, school, work, trade, similarities and differences. |

WATER- where is water found locally/globally?, how does it get to where it is needed/, who uses it?, who owns it?, who pays for it?, is it all useable? A CONTRASTING LOCALITY - study a locality that contrasts with own local area, similarities and differences. LOCAL TRAFFIC-AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE- traffic improvements schemes, identifying need, views for and against. SHOULD MAIN STREETS BE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC?- collect and analyse information and use it in a decision making process. |
