Principal
Mr Danny Harrison
Mr Harrison initially graduated as a Mining Engineer, before carving out a career in Education. He completed his PGCE at Cambridge, and taught Mathematics both in the UK and New Zealand. Mr Harrison managed the Boarding Establishment of a large prestigious boys' secondary school for 8 years. Immediately prior to joining Aqaba International School, Mr Harrison was Principal of a Year 1-13 school in northern New Zealand for 4 years. Mr Harrison played competitive football for many years, and particularly enjoys watching football, rugby and cricket!
Head of Primary
Mrs Colleen Gabriel
Mrs Colleen Gabriel has been at the school since its opening. Australian trained, Mrs Gabriel's experience has extended to teaching in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Qatar and the UAE. Mrs Gabriel has a passion for reading and children’s literature. She actively nurtures this greatest of educational gifts in our students through library displays, literature weeks, the use of puppetry in the classrooms, interactive reading programmes and membership of Professional Associations.
What does Mrs Colleen like to do outside of school hours? Why… READ of course! She also enjoys playing the piano, painting and pottery.
Head of Secondary
Mr Patrick Solomon
Mr Patrick Solomon was born and educated in South Africa. He majored in English and History and took an Honours degree in History, with post-graduate qualifications in Education and in TESOL. Mr Solomon taught in South Africa, America, Qatar and Jordan. He held posts as Head of History in South Africa, and Key Stages 3 and 4 Coordinator and Assessment Manager in Qatar.
He is an avid reader. In his younger years he competed in Power Lifting as a sport – South African Universities Championships and Provincial competitions. He now enjoys swimming as a recreational sport.
Registrar
Ms Rula Hazboun
Ms Rula has been at the school since its opening. In addition to attending to routine administrative tasks, she acts as a parent relations executive. Her local knowledge and command of both English and Arabic make her an invaluable member of the SMT. Ms Rula has previous experience of working as a PA for three large companies in Amman.
Arabic Principal
Ms. Hadeel Dmour
Ms Hadeel is a native Jordanian, married with two daughters. She has 10 years experience teaching in Jordanian Government Schools, and has been at AIS since its first year of operation. She holds a BA. in English language and literature from Muta University, and is completing a higher Diploma in Administration.
In 2005 she attended a training programme at the university of Delaware in the USA to support the development and implementation of English as a foreign language. This included seminars on innovative methods for teaching English as a foreign language at the elementary and secondary level, training in computer technology, and networking with ESL/EFL professionals.
Ms Hadeel is also a member of:
- Jordanian Arab union for women.
- Arab organization for human rights.
- (Persega) The regional convention for the conservation of the Red sea and Gulf of Aden Environment.
