Having the Sheikha Fatima Award For Excellence
Shahed AlSadi
I, Shahed a Year 10 student, have been awarded “The Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Award for Excellence 2012”. Students are nominated for this award by representatives of the GEMS group of schools. It was presented to me by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at the prestigious ceremony held at Dubai Modern High School on 2nd October. I felt very nervous while I was walking toward the Sheikh, thinking about how great this is. I was really proud of myself and of what I have achieved when I was holding the trophy with him and having pictures taken of us. I hope that we, the winners of the Sheikha Fatima Award have inspired some more girls in our school to try to get this award. I can only advise you to work as hard as you can and make sure you give as much to the school as you get out of it in terms of participation in activities such as the Eco Schools Project, clubs, the arts and sport. However, if you have failed once keep trying until you achieve what you are aiming for! For me, this trip to Dubai was the experience of a lifetime!
