Curriculum Information
Academic Curriculum
Aqaba International School (AIS) offers The National Curriculum for England, the study of Arabic throughout and a challenging set of IGCSE and A Level courses from Year 10 to Year 13. It is the only school in the area offering The National Curriculum for England. We welcome a wide range of students to study an International curriculum, which is designed to extend and challenge all learners.
Expectations are very high and children have every opportunity to progress as individuals. French is offered to expatriate students , on a non examination basis, from year 3 onwards.
Extra-Curricular Activities
The opportunities that students enjoy outside the classroom are just as important as the main curriculum. Our school offers a variety of sport, cultural activities, drama and clubs by making use of staff expertise as well as using the excellent facilities of the school. This holistic approach results in outstanding, well-rounded students who excel in their individual environment and who are equipped with the necessary life skills for future living.
Key Stages and Year Groups
Our year groupings at AIS follow English conventions with the school divided into Early Years, Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in the Primary School; Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and the Sixth Form (Years 12 & 13) in the Secondary.
Intensive English Support:
Our Intensive English staff offer support to a number of pupils in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. This complements work done in class and we ensure that there are regular opportunities for parents and staff to meet and review progress. There is an additional charge for this extra help.
