Our Facilities

Aqaba International School is a new and growing school which is developing modern facilities designed to enhance both students learning and meet recreation needs.

The school is a joint project of Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) and GEMS. The school is one of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority’s (ASEZA) clearly identified social enablers to underpin the success of other exciting projects around Aqaba. Funding is committed to ensure that the facilities develop into standards expected of a truly international school.

The school is set on a very large section of land adjacent the Prince Rashid Club. At present, the school consists of traditional air conditioned classrooms, 2 well equipped computer suites, library, and a new art studio and science laboratory. Two shaded courtyards form the central hub of the school, and a separate KG playground caters for the ‘little people’.

As the school grows, basketball, netball and other court sports will be offered as well as field based activities.

The school boasts 2 swimming pools, one of which is indoor and is air conditioned. As well as an indoor sports hall where basketball, football, badminton, drama, and all assemblies take place.

Library

AIS has a fully stocked library which is designed to meet the needs of all our learners. Our system of computerised library management system provides quick and accurate searching for library resources. The library is open all day for students to access and use.

The Library offers an extensive range of resources in a variety of media and aims to support and encourage the development of all students. Study space, computers and internet access facilitate research work. Our Librarian Teacher teaches core library skills which are invaluable for students as they grow older and need to carry out their own research studies.

The library subscribes to a range of online resources and periodicals, both general and specialized to enhance both teaching and learning in our school.
The school also works in partnership with the ‘Baker School Book Club’ ensuring that at least three times throughout the school year we are able to purchase new books to add to our library collection.
